Emi in Japan Travel: Travel Consulting・Local Insight

Traveling to Japan is an exciting and memorable experience. There is so much to do, to see, and to discover.

Japan’s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. Yet many travelers still stick to the tried-and-true routes: the same cities, the same time of year, the same experiences. This has led to overtourism in some areas of the country, while other regions remain largely untouched by inbound tourism.

As more people visit Japan, the internet and social media are flooded with posts and recommendations that can both inspire and mislead. Sorting through all the posts, highlight reels, and photos is both time-consuming and confusing.

If you’re looking for something a little quieter, a little slower, a little less well-known, why not visit the Hokuriku region? Historic cities and sites, coastal views that give way to beautiful mountains, serene temples, and relaxing onsens are just some of the attractions of this less-traveled region of Japan. There is plenty to see and do even outside of the well-established travel routes.

But deciding where to go, where to stay, what to do, and how to travel…these are all things that can make planning your adventure more stressful than enjoyable. Planning your trip should be an enjoyable part of the experience, not a chore.

As a Hokuriku resident since mid-2013, I can offer local insight that can be difficult to find with a consultant based in a larger city such as Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka.
