Emi, born and raised in New Jersey, lives in Fukui Prefecture in the Hokuriku region of Japan. After graduating with degrees in anthropology and Asian studies, she moved to the Hokuriku region in 2013 for work.
A visit to a bookstore shortly after moving to Japan sparked an interest in the 24 seasons/72 micro-seasons found in the old Japanese calendar. This interest, coupled with a love of traditional culture is the foundation of this blog.
In addition to culture, her interests include skiing, gardening, and photography.
She has lived in Fukui Prefecture since 2022.
